Cantor Philip Sherman has performed over 20,000 circumcisions and claims he was at one time the only mohel in Manhattan. In addition to his mohel duties, he’s also the Associate Cantor at Congregation Shearith Israel on the Upper West Side, also known as The Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue. (It is the oldest congregation in North America, established in 1654.) We joined him for a bris he performed in Lawrence, Long Island. You can find him online at www.emoil.com.
